The recently released film “Gadar 2,” starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, is all set to create a buzz at the ticket counters. According to industry tracker Cinikil, the film is expected to have an opening of around 35 crore rupees in cinemas on Friday. In its initial days, the film received a 36.73% Hindi occupancy, with hopes of increasing in the following weeks.

With this, “Gadar 2” has become the second biggest Bollywood opener of 2023, after Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathan,” which earned 57 crore rupees on its release day. Other Hindi films that performed well in their initial days and had strong opening numbers at the ticket counters include “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan” (15.81 crore rupees), “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar” (15.73 crore rupees), “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani” (11.10 crore rupees), and “Bhola” (11.20 crore rupees).

Directed by Anil Sharma, “Gadar 2” is a sequel to the 2001 film “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.” It tells the story of Tara Singh (portrayed by Sunny Deol), a father who crosses the border to Pakistan to save his son Jeet (Utkarsh Sharma). The film also features Ameesha Patel in the role of Sakina.

Just hours before the release of “Gadar 2,” trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed that the film had sold around 2.75 lakh tickets in advance bookings across national cinema chains. He tweeted, “#Gadar2 National chains Advance booking status [as of Thursday night]… Note: First day…⭐️ #PVR: 1,16,000 ⭐️ #INOX: 1,01,000 ⭐️ #Cinepolis: 57,000 ⭐️ Total: 2,74,000 tickets sold.” Director Anil Sharma claimed that the film had sold 2 million tickets in advance.

“Gadar 2” has been receiving mostly positive reviews from audiences. However, it is facing competition from Akshay Kumar’s “OMG 2,” which is also garnering positive feedback. Expectations are high for both films to perform well at the box office over the weekend.
