IIT-Delhi to Launch New Campuses in Sonipat and Haryana’s Jhajjar Soon

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-D) will soon be establishing two new campuses in Jhajjar and Sonipat, Haryana. This announcement was made by the Director of IIT Delhi, Rangan Banerjee. He further stated that the construction of the new campuses is expected to be completed by the end of November 2023.

In the Sonipat campus, the construction of the IoE-funded SATHI Building is likely to be completed by the end of November 2023. The total cost of the project is estimated to be INR 59.73 crores. The Jhajjar campus is set to become a unique institution for cancer treatment and the development of specialized medicines, a first of its kind in the country.

IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi Campus

Banerjee also announced that formal programs at the IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi Campus will commence in 2024. “We still need approvals both internally and externally. We have different systems for admissions in both India and UAE. We are trying to blend the two,” he said during a press conference. “Our objective is to create diverse classrooms,” he added.

The institute clarified that an interim campus for IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi has already been allocated, and work to tailor the existing facilities to the requirements of IIT Delhi is already underway.
